Vapor Intrusion May Impact Your Project

The EPA is planning to issue final Subsurface Vapor Intrusion (VI) Guidance by November 30, 2012.  A request for public input was announced in the Federal Register on March 17, 2011.  In the meantime, VI is becoming an increasingly important issue as well as a regulatory driver at the state level. It certainly has become a major consideration as it relates to transactions.

Several of our recent projects, both in the United States and Canada, have included an evaluation of vapors from previously confirmed or suspected releases to soil and groundwater.

On August 11, 2011, we will hold a brief VI field demonstration in our US office (8:00 am to 9:30 am). This will be an outdoor, hand’s on, demonstration focusing on the practical considerations of sampling for VI, as well as a discussion on the strategic considerations.
